And I thought things were calming down! Silly me.

It has been a SERIOUSLY CRAZY couple of weeks, and I haven’t had the energy or time to update in a while. Where do I even start? Let’s start with the positives first:

1. My job is going well. I don’t have enough work to do or enough responsibilities, but that’s OK for now. It’s only been 6 weeks. And I like the work, I like the people, I’m settling in. It’s hard for me to remember that a couple of years ago I was top dog where I worked, and I had specific roles and duties and people all knew me, but when I started I was no one. So I keep frustration in check.

2. I joined a gym. I try to go 3-4 times a week, for about an hour each time. I feel OK, but I look great and I know it. My hips are WAY slimmer in a way I never thought they would be. Cool beans.

3. I started seeing someone. He is lovely. I won’t say too much, because that is the Kiss of Death, but it’s been a little over three weeks now and it’s going OK so far. More on that later.

Now, the negatives:

1. My great-uncle died. He was very sick, and it’s kind of merciful, but (and petty, petty, petty), his death meant that I had to see Crazy Cousin again, and yes, she acted crazy. In front of MY mother. But whatever. She is a raving lunatic beeyotch.

2. My roommate not only decided not to move to Israel, SHE KICKED ME OUT. Like, not even sit down and talk and say, “This isn’t working, blah blah,” she LEFT ME A VOICE MAIL. Like, a 5-minute rambling-ass voice mail about how she wants me out June 1st. She is a LOON. Where do I find these people???? I saved some of the IM conversations. I realize now that while I don’t exactly have the easiest personality, I ain’t crazy, and it’s mostly her. Her problem with me is not ME—her problem with me is that I live in the apartment. Her problem is that I don’t conform to her ideas of what she wants in a roommate. Like, I don’t want to talk to her all the time (sometimes I want to relax when I get home and watch TV and do nothing), and I want some space in the bathroom and I want to get my sleep without being disturbed. Girlfriend does NOT get it. On the positive side of that, I’m looking for a new place. Mom and Ed have offered to help out for a while, which is awesome, and I feel pretty good about it. Of course, that could change when I don’t find a place, but let’s cross that bridge when we come to it.

So, yeah. My life in a nutshell, I suppose. Now, the GUY.

I have decided to call him the Knew Bo. He was given this name because I invited him home with me after our second date (no, he did NOT stay over, thank you!), and my roommate met him briefly. She IM’d me the next day and said, “So whose the knew Bo?” Just like that. It took me 10 minutes to figure that one out, and for a while there I thought she was talking about the rocker dude on American Idol. So that’s his name. Have I mentioned that he’s lovely? Not only does he call when he says he will, he went on vacation to Brazil and he emailed me every day, then he CALLED. From BRAZIL. He got back on Stress-Filled Monday (a few days ago—my great-uncle’s funeral, roommate’s voice mail and an office move to deal with) and I went over to his place, where he held me for a really long time, then we shared a bottle of wine and some burritos and had a lovely evening. (Yes, we had The Sex.) That was not the first time I’d stayed over at his place, but it was the first time that underwear was removed, so this moved relatively slowly. But at an excellent pace for both of us. He’s handsome, successful, Jewish (we actually met on JDate, surprise, surprise), unabashedly dorky and very thoughtful. Oh, and he’s totally polite—carries my bag, walks on the outside of the sidewalk… Great guy all around. And I like him. It ain’t love yet, and I’m so gun-shy I refuse to declare that for a looooooong time, but it’s definitely fun. So stay tuned.
