2003-07-01 - 4:11 p.m. Classes and asses Today was the first day of classes. I am so, so happy, it’s unbelievable. I am also so, so tired. I’m just not used to getting up at seven and having to pay attention to things for so many hours in a room with low lighting. But it was awesome. Yesterday I introduced myself to the professor in whose footsteps I want to follow. He was AWESOME. Thought he recognized me. I dropped a name of a professor from undergrad and he nodded, and we talked for a while. I tried not to kiss his ass, and I don’t think I did. It was thrilling. Today I had my first lecture with him, and it was great. I feel awake and alive and intelligent again. It’s a great feeling. I have some reading to do tonight, which I will get to, and I’m looking at my desk and trying to figure out how to organize it. It’s awesome. But I need a nap. In other news… M did not call all weekend. I was a little miffed, but not really. I saw him yesterday, though. We were pretty cool in person. We acted like acquaintances. We went out for a beer after orientation with a whole bunch of other people, mostly in his program. I had three beers (I started drinking beer last Monday, mind you) and I got a little tipsy. I asked M to drive me home. Sneaky, eh? Yes. I am a master of subtlety. Anyway. He dropped me off. Drove me around the back. I asked if he wanted to come in. He did. We sat on the couch for a while, watching movies, making no moves. Finally, he got up to leave. I walked him to the door, he kissed me goodbye… Suffice it to say he didn’t leave for at least another 90 minutes. I believe I have an “arrangement”. This would be verrrrrrrrrrry nice. And apparently, I’m smoother than I thought—he’s decided to call me “T”. Short for “Temptress”. Awwwww, yeah.
